The series originally focuses primarily on the brothers Dean Winchester and Sam Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, as they travel throughout the country hunting down evil supernatural creatures. After losing their mother to a supernatural force, the brothers were raised by their father as soldiers who track mysterious and demonic creatures. Violent memories and relationship-threatening secrets add additional burdens on Sam and Dean as they investigate all things that go bump in the night. As old tricks and tools are rendered useless and friends betray them, the brothers must rely on each other as they encounter new enemies.

12.19 The Future Air Date: April 27, 2017

After learning of the destruction her child will wreak if he is born, Kelly commits suicide only to be resurrected by her son. Following her resurrection, Kelly insists that she sensed her child’s soul and he is not evil as everyone believes. At the same time, Castiel visits the Bunker after having been missing for weeks and explains he was in Heaven working with the angels but left when they had no luck. While Castiel was away, Sam has come up with a plan to strip the child of his powers and leave him human. However, Castiel is revealed to still be working with the angels and steals the Colt to kill Dagon and Kelly. Working with Kelvin and another angel, Castiel tracks Kelly through the surge of power emitted by her resurrection, but can’t bring himself to kill her so instead kidnaps Kelly. While Castiel takes Kelly, Dagon captures Kelvin and kills the other angel. Upon the prompting of an enraged Lucifer, Dagon tortures Kelvin for information on Castiel’s plan before killing him. On the orders of Joshua, Castiel decides to take Kelly through the portal to Heaven which will kill both Kelly and her child. While resting, Kelly reiterates her belief to Castiel that the child is good and the child chooses Castiel as his protector, receiving a premonition of a fight between Castiel and Dagon. At the Heavenly portal, Castiel and Kelly are greeted by Joshua, only to have Dagon appear and kill Joshua. Aided by the Winchesters, Castiel battles Dagon to no avail, leading to the destruction of the Colt. As all seems lost, Lucifer’s son takes partial possession of Castiel and grants him the power to incinerate Dagon. Castiel tells the Winchesters that he now knows that the child must be born with his powers intact; he departs with Kelly, telling her that the child has shown him “the future.”


13.12 Various & Sundry Villains Air Date: February 1, 2018

Dean falls under a love spell cast by Jaime Plum, a witch working with her sister Jennie to steal the Black Grimoire, the spell book the Winchesters took from the Loughlin Family. Though the Plums succeed in stealing the book, Rowena unexpectedly shows up to help despite having been believed dead for months. Rowena reveals that she was resurrected again by the precautionary spell she put in place, but took a very long time to recover from her death. Rowena is seeking the Black Grimoire as it contains a ritual that will allow her to remove the magical binding placed upon her by the Grand Coven and regain her full powers. Privately, Rowena admits to Sam that she saw Lucifer’s true face and she is terrified of his inevitable return. After stealing the Black Grimorie, the Plums attempt to use it to resurrect their deceased mother, but only succeed in bringing her back as a zombie. Together the Winchesters and Rowena defeat the Plums and recover the Black Grimoire. Though the Winchesters keep the book, a sympathetic Sam allows Rowena to take the page with the ritual she needs and Rowena is able to restore her full powers. At the same time, Castiel and Lucifer form an alliance to escape Asmodeus’ custody. Though they succeed, Castiel refuses to trust Lucifer or give up some of his grace to him. Castiel attacks Lucifer with an angel blade, causing him harm in his weakened state.


13.15 A Most Holy Man Air Date: March 8, 2018

The Winchesters realize that the blood of a most holy man likely refers to a saint and set out to find someone who has saint blood. Through a black market dealer named Margaret Astor, the Winchesters are directed to a man named Richard Greenstreet who claims to have saint’s blood. Greenstreet offers to give the Winchesters the blood of Saint Ignatius if they get him the skull of Saint Peter which has recently been stolen from a monastery in Malta by a man working for Seattle mob boss Santino Scarpatti. After discovering the thief murdered, the Winchesters are apprehended by Scarpatti’s henchmen, and Scarpatti offers a deal where he will pay them a handsome finder’s fee that they can buy the blood with if they get him the skull. Complicating matters, the Winchesters meet Father Luca Camilleri, a priest from Malta seeking the skull for altruistic reasons. The Winchesters choose to help Luca and discover that Margaret Astor had murdered the thief to auction the skull off to everyone interested. Sam joins the auction, but Greenstreet instigates a gunfight that kills Margaret, Scarpatti and their henchmen. During the fight, Luca saves Dean’s life and the Winchesters learn that Greenstreet lied about having the saint’s blood. Greenstreet is arrested while Luca returns home with the skull. Before Luca leaves, Sam learns that he is an apostolic protonotary supernumery, a title given by the Pope for doing good works. As a result, Luca was declared “a most holy man” by the Pope and at the Winchesters’ request, gives them his blood. Afterwards, Dean displays faith for the first time that they will succeed.


14.10 Nihilism Air Date: January 17, 2019

Sam, Castiel and Jack manage to trap Michael using the angelic handcuffs, but he summons several monsters to rescue him. Sam attempts to get the Reaper Violet to transport them to safety and despite her protests, Sam, Castiel, Jack and Michael are suddenly teleported to the bunker where Sam gets word from Maggie that all of Michael’s monsters have broken off their attack on Kansas City, Missouri and are headed for the bunker. Remembering how Crowley helped Sam kick Gadreel out of his mind, Sam and Castiel use the British Men of Letters mind-link device to enter Dean’s mind and get him to cast Michael out while Jack remains behind to defend the bunker. Sam and Castiel find Dean living out a looped existence where he owns a bar with Pamela Barnes and is happy. After they succeed in getting Dean to remember the truth, Michael attacks and warns that Dean will die if he is forced out. Instead, Dean, Sam and Castiel trap Michael within Dean’s mind. At the same time, several monsters attack the bunker and Jack draws on power from his soul to destroy them. After Michael is trapped, Michael’s army seemingly disbands with Michael unable to control them anymore. Castiel warns Jack of the ramifications of using his soul in such a manner while Michael continues to struggle to break free of Dean’s control. Dean is visited by Billie who reveals that she had rescued Sam and the others from Michael’s monsters. Billie warns Dean that all versions of his fate but one now have Michael breaking free and using Dean to destroy the world. Billie shows Dean the one fate where Michael fails, leaving Dean shocked at what it reveals must be done.
